It seems that Manchester currently has something of the Midas touch when it comes to underground music. With so much quality bass music oozing out of the city recently, local legend Chimpo is one of those firmly leading the charge.
Amongst The Blast’s favourite artists of late, Chimpo is something of an underground legend, and as a producer he has been on the scene for more than a while now. Having worked with the likes of Broke N English, Zed Bias, Enei, Dub Phizix and many many more, Chimpo has succesfully turned his hand to many different styles and genres. True to previous form, his output of late still furiously defies genre boundaries, effortlessly incorporating elements of drum and bass, dubstep, trap, grime, dancehall and more, not to mention his own unique and powerful vocal style that is often found on not just his own productions, but also on many collaborations with his peers (If you haven’t heard it already then check out the amazing Enei cut “Headtop” featuring Chimpo – trust us, its bad like Kim Jong-il!).
Its fair to say that you never really know quite what’s going to come next from Chimpo, but you can bet it will always have tons of bass, more than a touch of his inimitable swagger, and regardless of genre or bpm it will be guaranteed to destroy a dancefloor… Eulogising aside, we’re very pleased to have Chimpo back at The Blast on Saturday 7th December. To give you a little taster of what you can expect Chimpo has put together this exclusive mix for The Blast In:Motion. Stream it on the player below now and make sure you turn the bass up loud.
